Residents on Maes Y Llan are worried troublemakers could vandalise or set fire to the vehicle

A car abandoned on a Conwy street for two months could soon be targeted by arsonists, say concerned residents.
The red Renault Clio was parked on Maes Y Llan in Dwygyfylchi at the end of August, but its owner never returned.
Carl Hancock, who lives on the street, told the Daily Post that residents rang North Wales Police after becoming concerned for the owner’s welfare – fearing they had perhaps got into trouble on the nearby beach.
Despite concerns being raised on numerous occasions with North Wales Police, the DVLA and Conwy council – including that the vehicle seems to have no tax or valid MOT – the vehicle remains on the street.
Carl said that the car is currently unlocked, which has resulted in children opening the doors and pushing the vehicle into the middle of the road on at least three occasions.
Last week, the car was pushed into the middle of the road, blocking the highway, and police were forced to push it to safety.
Carl said: “It’s been left open and kids keep moving it into the middle of the road.
“The police even had to come out and push it back to where it was last week because it was blocking the road and people were having to drive on the pavement.
“Everyone knows the car is unlocked and someone could potentially get into it and set fire to it or smash it up. It’s worrying. Or they could let the handbrake off and someone could get seriously hurt.”
Carl told of his frustration over the lack of action to remove the car or trace its owner.
“We’ve contacted the police, DVLA and council numerous times, but nobody wants to know,” he said.
“Everyone is passing the buck and it’s annoying.
“I’m not happy about it. It’s so frustrating – it’s the point that it has no tax, no MOT and probably no insurance, which is illegal.
“If I drove my car around like that I would immediately be stopped, but it seems like it is OK just to dump it.
“I don’t understand why they can’t park it outside their own house.”
