Swansea,South Wales - Dangerous driver led police on high speed car chase before crashing into garden shed

A MOTORIST who led police on a chase through Morriston at speeds of up to 80mph before crashing into a garden shed was found to be a disqualified driver and twice the drink-drive limit.
Swansea Crown Court heard that Damian Morgan was travelling so fast that as he sped over speed bumps his car on occasions "left the road".
He eventually lost control of the Citroen and crashed it, making-off across people's gardens — pursued on foot by a police officer who tackled him.
A subsequent breath-test showed the 34-year-old had 68 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath — the legal limit being 35 microgrammes — and had been disqualified from driving.

Morgan, of Westland Close, Loughor, pleaded guilty to dangerous driving, drink-driving, disqualified while disqualified, and driving without insurance.
The court heard Morgan has four previous convictions for driving while disqualified, three for drink-driving, one for dangerous driving and one for failing to provide a specimen.
John Lloyd, prosecuting, said the chase began at around 7.30am on August 22 when Morgan was seen by police driving down the wrong side of the carriageway on Clasemont Road.
The lights and siren on the police car were turned on and the defendant drove-off, speeding down Clasemont Road and Pentrepoeth Road.
The barrister said that at time the Citroen was travelling so fast it "left the road" as it hit speed bumps.
Morgan then turned into Waun Road and then into a back lanes behind house before losing control, smashing through a fence and crashing into a garden shed. He made-off from the scene but was chased by the pursuing officer.
His Honour Judge Peter Heywood said Morgan had convictions for motoring offences which stretched back to his teenage years.
He told him: "Your record shows you simply cannot control your impulse to drive motor vehicles.
"This offence is so serious that only a custodial sentence can be justified."
He sentenced Morgan to 12 months for dangerous driving, to three months for driving while disqualified and to three months for the excess alcohol, all to run consecutively.
No separate penalty was imposed for the insurance offence
His Honour further disqualified Morgan from driving for three years.
