Four people have been arrested during police raids in Wrexham this morning.
The four were arrested for firearms and weapon offences, assaults and other offences of violence, a North Wales Police spokesman said.
Three men aged between 21 and 44 and one woman in her mid-thirties were detained when officers swooped this morning.
They are currently being detained at a local police station after the action under Operation Scorpion.
The operation also included police searches of several properties in the Wrexham area some of which are still on-going.
Operation Scorpion lead Det Insp Arwyn Jones, who coordinated this morning’s arrests, said: “Today’s action is the result of a protracted intelligence led investigation into the unlawful possession and use of firearms and other offences of violence in the county.
“Operation Scorpion will continue to make arrests linked to serious and organised crime and target those in our communities who inflict the most harm.
“Once again a large number of premises have been searched and law abiding local communities disrupted and so I’d like to thank the local residents for their cooperation and patience as we carried our this operation and also reassure them that tackling organised crime remains our priority”.
Police chiefs vowed to continue the fight and also urged anybody with information to come forward.
Det Insp Jones added: “We have made great strides in reducing incidents of violence in the region and with help from the community and I’m sure we can continue to do so and make our streets safer.
