A Barmouth man is in a serious condition after he was found in the street with a knife sticking out of his eye.
Neighbours have today told of their shock after witnessing the man in his fifties wandering around Jubilee Street with a six inch knife embedded into his right eye, describing the incident as “gruesome”.
Two air ambulances and an emergency ambulance were called by North Wales Police at 8.52am on Saturday morning and the man, thought to be called Paul, was airlifted to Royal Stoke University Hospital’s trauma unit with serious injuries.
Eiddon Edwards, of LL DIY home and garden centre, witnessed the aftermath.
He told the Daily Post: “I saw the knife. The handle was out and the blade was right in his right eye.
“Apparently he tried to walk over to the Co-op store but everyone stopped him.
“He was then sat outside the police station and I think he was knocking on the door for ages.”
Mr Edwards added: “It was very gruesome.
