A drunken man sank his teeth into a policeman’s leg as the officer responded to a call-out inWrexham .
Stephen Norman Harper, 54, also lifted PC Colbourne off his feet and pushed him against a garden shed during the assault.
The heavy goods driver pleaded guilty to charges of assault and resisting a constable in the execution of his duty.
The incident happened at an address on Benjamin Road, Wrexham, where Harper lives with his wife of four years, on September 20.
Justin Espie, prosecuting, told the court the defendant was drunk and banging on the back door of the property trying to get in.
Harper had already been told to leave the address by police having attempted to get in earlier.
When officers arrived for the second time, he said: “How many f****** officers. I’m trying to get in my house”.
Mr Espie told the court that as the four officers tried to arrest Harper he “tensed up”.
He added: “He grabbed PC Colbourne around the waist and pushed him against the garden shed.
“He lifted the officer off his feet. He was eventually forced to the ground.
“The officer then realised the defendant had bitten him to the leg. He wouldn’t let go.”
Harper was eventually handcuffed and PC Colbourne was taken to A&E with bruising and an abrasion below the right knee.
Mark Davies, defending, said his client had been working away all week and had initially got home feeling “groggy” and wanting a shower.
“His wife effectively wouldn’t let him in the home,” he told the court.
“There was no reason for this. What does he do in these circumstances?”
Harper, who has been staying with his son in law since the incident despite the fact he has not separated from his wife, went to the pub after being told to leave the property, the court heard.
