TWICE a “fearsome” dog went to the aid of its mistress when she was in a violent confrontation with her partner, a court was told.
First, after Ryan Damms, aged 22, held her on the bedroom floor of their home in Bryniau Road, Llandudno, the cross between an Alsation and a bull terrier growled at him, and he released his hold.
But later after Damms, according to his victim, threatened to kill her, then pushed her on to the bed and punched her, the dog reappeared, attacking him and biting his arm.
Miss Carpenter picked up her belongings and went to her mother’s home in nearby Augusta Street, where there was another incident and police were called.
Prosecuting at Llandudno court, Alun Humphreys said the couple had a four-year relationship which at times had been volatile.
However it was now Miss Carpenter’s intention to get back with him but she felt he needed help to deal with anger management.
Mr Humphreys said Damms had previous convictions, including some for violence.
He pleaded guilty to common assault on Miss Carpenter and to criminal damage to a mobile phone belonging to her mother.
Damms was bailed until next month to obtain a pre-sentence report, a condition being that he does not contact Miss Carpenter.
Defence solicitor Graham Parry said: “It’s evident he does have problems when expressing himself, and when he is frustrated he tends to act inappropriately
