Deaths of Mary and Anthony Jenkins being treated as 'unexplained' by police

Tributes have been paid to a devoted couple who were found dead at their home in the Rhondda.
The bodies of Mary and Anthony Jenkins, both 77, were found by police at their home inTreorchy on Tuesday morning.
Their deaths are being treated as “unexplained”.

Shocked

Neighbour Bryant Keddie, 49, said: “It’s a real shame and so sad.
"Everyone here is so shocked, they were well liked. Mary was often out and about but her husband was quieter.
“The first I knew about it was seeing that there were police outside.”
Police were called to a house on Ynyswen Road, Treorchy around 11.10am where two people, a man and woman both aged 77, were found dead at the property

Another neighbour, on Ynyswen Road, Treorchy, who did not want to be named, said: “I’m gutted for their family – it wasn’t their time.”
Police were still at the scene and had opened all the windows in the terraced house.
DCI Mark Lewis, from South Wales Police, said: “The cause of their deaths has not yet been established and we are investigating the circumstances at present.
“At this time the deaths are being treated as unexplained.”
