Zip World Velocity closed until Friday after two men injured in test run
Two staff members suffered "minor injuries" in incident on Wednesday morning
A zip line attraction in Gwynedd will be shut until Friday after two men were injured on a test run this morning.
The two staff members were hurt at the Zip World site in Bethesda while riding Velocity, the fastest zip line in Europe.
They have been taken to Ysbyty Gwynedd with what the company says are “minor injuries”.
Ambulances were called at about 8.30am and the Velocity adventure line was closed so that the medical team could help the men.
At first the business had hoped to re-open the attraction later today but have now announced it will be closed until Friday.
A spokesman for Zip World said: “Our technical team has advised that the Velocity adventure should be closed for two days so that further testing can take place.
“Safety at Zip World is ensured through a combination of technology, training and supervision. We invest in the best equipment and best training on a continual basis to ensure that our participants are kept safe.
“The booking team is contacting people due to ride Velocity over the next 48 hours to rearrange their experience.”
Sean Taylor, commercial director of Zip World , said: ”Two members of the Zip World team sustained minor injuries on an early morning testing run before the park was open to the public.
“This caused the Velocity adventure line to be closed for a couple of hours so that the medical team could attend, and we would like to thank them for their assistance.”
A spokesman for the Welsh Ambulance Service Trust said: “We were called at about 8.30am to reports that two people had sustained injuries at Zip World in Bethesda.
“Two emergency ambulances attended the scene and two men have been taken to Ysbyty Gwynedd with injuries which are not thought to be life-threatening.”
All other Zip World activities are operational as usual.
