A woman who believed her boyfriend had cheated on her took a knife to gouge three expensive limousines used by a wedding car hire firm and get revenge on his new love.
Damage worth £10,850 was caused to the cars – a Lincoln stretch limo, a Daimler and a Mercedes - by Angelino Dimarco, 41, of Regent Road, Rhyl.
In court at Llandudno on Monday, she admitted to causing damage to the cars belonging to the Preater family, and to sending threatening and abusive Facebook messages to Samantha Preater.
James Neary, prosecuting, said: “It was a revenge attack. It’s had an impact on the business – the cars are their livelihood.”
Dimarco was given a jail sentence of 12 weeks suspended for a year and was ordered to pay £615 costs, including £500 in compensation.
A restraining order bans her from going near where the cars are kept at Rhyl or from contacting Darren, Angela and Samantha Preater – including by social media.
Mr Neary said the abusive messages began after Dimarco learned that Paul Lewis was in a relationship with Samantha.
One Facebook message in April threatened: “You will pay for this.”
Another declared: “I will leave you with a scar to remember me by. My scars are mental.”
Mr Neary said DNA from blood found on the Mercedes had come from Dimarco.
Nia Dawson, defending, said her client had been in a two-year relationship.
“She thought it was a happy relationship with a future,” she said.
“It came to light in particularly embarrassing circumstances that he had been cheating on her with Miss Preater. That has been the basis of this sorry incident.”
The solicitor added that Dimarco, who now had a social worker and was receiving help, “accepts that her reaction was inappropriate”.
She said both Dimarco and Miss Preater had been sending unpleasant messages to each other, including about the court case.
Magistrates were told that, because Dimarco was on benefits, the company would need to make an insurance claim to cover the damage.
