HORRIFIED residents discovered a dead snake on Mold High Street.
The shocking find happened on Wednesday morning at about 8am – just before the popular market opened for business.
It is unclear the exact species of the snake, about 2ft in length, but pet shop owner Cerys Roberts said it is not from this country.
Cerys, who found the snake outside her shop, owns the Tails-a-Waggin store on Mold High Street.
She said: “I was shocked when I found it. It made me feel sick. People came in the shop to tell me, thinking it had escaped from here.
“But we don’t sell snakes.
“I called Flintshire Council and got them to come and move it.
“It was not nice for people to see.”
Cerys said the snake was not a native species, and that it was some sort of python.
It is believed the reptile must have been a pet and either escaped or been dumped, as it would not survive in the UK’s conditions.
“If it has been just dumped, I think it is disgusting,” added Cerys.
Colin Antwis, who sent in the picture to the Leader, also witnessed the snake on his way to work.
He said it looked as if it had been run over by a car.
“It was outside the pet shop. It was quite a shock to see it there,” he added.
“I just don’t know where it could have come from.”
