Swansea,South Wales - Woman knocked unconscious in Swansea bar 'for taking drink'

Liam Kevin Raymond Davey pleaded guilty to assault occasioning actual bodily harm when he appeared at Swansea Magistrates Court
A TEENAGER has admitted hitting a woman in the face and knocking her out in a Swansea bar following a dispute over a drink.
Liam Kevin Raymond Davey lashed out at the woman — somebody he went to school with — while holding a glass in his hand because he thought she had taken his partner's drink.
Swansea Magistrates Court heard how the victim saw Davey's arm moving towards her "like it was in slow motion" in the busy Wind Street pub — the next thing she could remember was lying on the bar floor passing in and out of consciousness and with people standing around "laughing".
Sharon Anderson, prosecuting, said the victim was taken to hospital following the attack, and suffered severe swelling and bruising to her face.
In his subsequent police interview Davey told officers he had "lost it" after thinking the victim had taken his girlfriend's drink.

Davey, aged 19, of Benson Terrace, Penclawdd, pleaded guilty to assault occasioning actual bodily harm in The Griffin when he appeared before justices.
The prosecutor said that given the seriousness of the incident and its circumstances — late night city centre violence with a weapon — the case was not suitable for sentencing at the lower court.
Dan Griffith, for Davey, said the incident was clearly very serious but added that his client was of previously clean character and had no convictions.
Magistrates committed the case to Swansea Crown Court for sentencing, and released the teenager on conditional bail — namely that he does not enter Wind Street, and is not found drunk in a public place.
He will appear next on October 31.
