Swansea,South Wales - Jail for woman who told police 'I thought it was okay to have a little bit of weed for personal use'

Helena Morris pleaded guilty to possessing cannabis when she appeared at Swansea Magistrates Court
A WOMAN on a suspended sentence has been sent to prison after police found a small amount of cannabis in her kitchen.
Swansea Magistrates Court heard that when police executed a search warrant at Helena Morris's house in Knox Street, Margam, they found five grams of the drug on a worktop.
When arrested the defendant told police "I thought it was okay to have a little bit of weed for personal use".
Morris pleaded guilty to possessing the Class B drug when she appeared before justices.
Steve Harrett, in mitigation, said Morris had a history of heroin addiction and was waiting for a prescription of a heroin-blocker — in the meantime she was using cannabis to help her stay off the Class A drug.
He told the justices: "As an experienced bench, you will know that breaking a heroin addiction is not easy without chemical intervention."
Magistrates activated 12 weeks of a previously imposed 16-week sentence, and sentenced her to two weeks for the cannabis offence to run concurrently.
