Killer driver Calvin Markall had been only recently finished a 10-year jail term for his part in a £10m heroin ring he knocked down schoolboy Hamid Ali Khan.
The 26-year-old was sentenced to 10 years behind bars in June 2009 after officers from the Metropolitan Police discovered four cardboard boxes containing 149kg of the Class A drug at a safe house in London he frequented.
He pleaded guilty in April 2009 to supplying heroin throughout London before the seizure in 2008 along with his half-brother Kyle Johnson who was jailed for 12 years for his part in the operation.

Packaged for distribution

Detectives from the Met’s central task force raided the safe house in Meath Road, Forrest Gate, where 597 envelopes inside the cardboard boxes were found to contain 149kg of heroin with a purity of between 60 and 65%.
The total street value of the haul, which was packaged ready for distribution, was valued at £9,956,000.
When Markall was arrested for his part in a £10m heroin ring in 2008 officers found 150kg of the Class A drug packaged in 597 envelopes in four cardboard boxes

Markall was caught when he was seen leaving the house and locking it with a set of house keys.
Speaking at the time of the sentencing Detective Inspector Colin Stephenson, from the Met’s Central Task Force East, said: “This was one of the most significant drugs seizures by the Met last year (2008) and has seriously disrupted a major criminal network planning to flood London with heroin over the Christmas period.

Calvin Markall, 26, had only recently been freed when he knocked down and killed Cardiff schoolboy Hamid Ali Khan last February

“The fact that Calvin Markall pleaded guilty demonstrates the thoroughness of the investigation we conducted and the overwhelming evidence we obtained.”
Markall would have been released on licence in 2014 after serving half of his sentence.
In total the 18-month investigation saw 11 men, including Markall and Johnson, jailed for a combined total of almost 90 years.
Markall will be sentenced on January 13 after pleading guilty to causing 12-year-old Hamid's death by dangerous driving.
